Iran, Israeli Airstrikes & Damascus Prophecy—Sum of All Fears?
Tension in the Middle East are at an all-time high as Israel continues to fight its shadow war against the existential threat posed by Iran in Syria—launching airstrikes against eight targets in and around Damascus. In the wake of the Abraham Accords and escalating military posturing by Turkey, Russia, and Iran, especially within Syria, are we about to realize the sum of all fears—the imminent fulfillment of the Damascus prophecy?
The Prophet Isaiah prophesied about the sudden and immediate destruction of the city of Damascus in the last days, writing:
Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap” (Isaiah 17:1).
Though battered over recent decades and a mere shadow of its former glory, Damascus remains a functioning and inhabited city.
However, tensions between Israel and Iranian-backed Syrian forces operating in and around the city have exploded in recent days and months… begging the question: Are we on the threshold of witnessing God’s destruction of the city?
Reuters insightfully noted that these attacks, which we will examine in detail in a moment (and are being largely ignored by the American press), “struck a far wider range of targets than usual, and the Israeli military was more forthcoming about the details than it has been in the past, suggesting a clear intention to send a public message.”
Israel’s shadow war against Iran, which it views (correctly) as its greatest threat, and its allies has escalated in recent months, with cyberattacks and exchanges of fire with militants in Syria and Lebanon.
Israel rarely acknowledges or discusses such operations. This time, officials appeared keen to publicize the retaliatory strikes as a message to Iran and Syria, stating:
It is apparent that the message that we wanted to convey last time wasn’t clear enough, not to the Iranians and not to the Syrian regime… We hope now that the message is clear.”
That message is Israel will not tolerate the establishment of a permanent Iranian military presence in Syria, especially near its borders.
Iran is a key ally of Syrian President Bashar Assad in the country’s civil war—in fact, Assad owes his life to Iran and Russia, who turned the tide of the Syrian civil war as his regime was close to being toppled—has dispatched military advisers and allied militias to aid his forces.
And all of this occurs at a time when multiple major media outlets are reporting that the Trump administration is considering a military strike on Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities and even the UN’s impotent International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is reporting that, as of November 2, Iran has built a stockpile of 5,385.7 pounds of low-enriched uranium (more than 10 times that which is allowed under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) and “has also been continuing to enrich uranium to a purity of up to 5.4% higher than the 3.67% allowed under the deal.”
Add to that the pressure Israel now feels knowing that the incoming Biden administration is poised to be the most anti-Israel and anti-Semitic administration in the history of the country—even surpassing that of the Obama administration (and that’s saying something).
They know they are about to be on their own, with no one having their back and most looking to stab them in the back at the first opportunity.
The stage has been set and the powder kegs positioned for the War of Gog and Magog—which will likely be triggered by or will trigger the prophetic fulfillment of the complete destruction of Damascus.
Now, let’s turn our attention to the details of this broad military strike on Iranian-linked targets in Syria by Israel…
Israel Launches Multiple Syrian Airstrikes In & Around Damascus
Israeli warplanes carried out a series of strikes on eight targets in Syria, including a site at the Damascus International Airport used as Iranian headquarters, following the discovery of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted in the Golan Heights.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the anti-personnel mines had been placed near one of its positions in the Golan Heights by a “Syrian squad led by Iranian forces.” It said a similar incident happened in the same area in August, which also prompted retaliatory strikes on Syria.

Israel reported that the targets were all situated in the area between the Israeli frontier and the periphery of Damascus and targeted sites belonging to Iran’s elite Quds Force and the Syrian military, including “storage facilities, headquarters and military compounds,” as well as Syrian anti-aircraft missile batteries.
Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus, an Israeli military spokesman, stated the strikes targeted the Iranian military headquarters in Syria at the Damascus airport, a secret facility used as an Iranian headquarters in Syria and a secret military site to host senior Iranian delegations and the Syrian army’s 7th Division, which oversees the Syrian side of the Golan Heights. He added that Iran’s Quds Force—a branch of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps—is embedded with the 7th Division.
Furthermore, Conricus noted that the IDF also struck advanced surface-to-air missile batteries after they fired on Israeli aircraft.
He stated that three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the Golan Heights. The IEDs—claymore anti-personnel charges—were placed by local Syrian forces under the command of the Iranian Quds Force operating in and around the Damascus area of Syria. He added:
The IEDs were discovered outside Israel’s security barrier but inside the Alpha line, which demarcates the UN-recognized buffer zone between Israeli territory and Syria—close to where Iranian forces in Syria had tried to place explosives along the security fence in early-August.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserted that the strikes were part of a policy that he has been “pursuing for years,” and that Israel would not allow for Iran to entrench itself in Syria, nor would it allow for any attempted attack from Syrian territory, adding that “Whoever tries to attack us, whoever attacks us, will bleed from his head.”
Defense Minister Benny Gantz responded to the strikes, declaring:
I repeat to our enemies—Israel will not tolerate any violations of sovereignty on any border and will not allow dangerous escalations at any border. The Syrian regime is responsible for everything that is done in or out of its territory.”
IDF Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Hidai Zilberman stated, “We understood that the message we sent the other side in August wasn’t fully understood.” He continued, saying that the military wanted the other side, including the local Syrians on the Golan Heights, to understand that working with Iran is “not acceptable,” adding:
We won’t allow Iran to continue to embed themselves in Syria and especially along the border, and we won’t let the Syrians continue to let them. We are attacking against the host, and the visitor who is really not wanted.”
Conclusion—Imminent Fulfillment of Damascus Prophecy
As we discussed in detail in our articles Abraham Accord Deception: Sudden Apocalyptic Consequences and Abraham Accord—What Is God’s Perspective on Peace & Security???, the Abraham Accords have set the stage for the sudden start of the War of Gog and Magog—a massive attack on Israel by a host of hostile nations led by Russia, Iran and Turkey. Syria is the powder keg that will likely set the proverbial bomb off… and Damascus will be the epicenter.
It will be a “Sum of All Fears” moment… and it is now imminent!
It is worth noting that Damascus was the epicenter for the start of God’s age of grace (a.k.a. the church age).
Paul, who was at the time a major persecutor of the disciples of the Lord and who “breathed threats and murder” against them (Acts 9:1), was on his way to the very city of Damascus to round up followers of Christ (know at that time as the “Way”) there and “extradite” them to Jerusalem for sentencing.
It was on this very road to Damascus that Paul (known as Saul at the time) was confronted by Jesus Himself—where he was blinded and told to go into Damascus and wait for direction.
We know from his letter to the Corinthians that while in Damascus, Paul was “caught up into Paradise” (2 Corinthians 12:4), where he received the Gospel of Grace directly from the mouth of Jesus Christ and was tasked by Him to deliver it to the world.
But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God” (Acts 20:24).
Following his instruction at the feet of Christ in heaven, the Book of Acts declares:
Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God. Then all who heard were amazed, and said, ‘Is this not he who destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem, and has come here for that purpose, so that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?’ But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that this Jesus is the Christ.” (Acts 9:20-22)
This marked the start of our current Age of Grace and, from there, the rest—as they say—is history.
Could it be that God will also use this city of Damascus to signal the end of the age of grace, the rapture (removal) of the church, and the start of the apocalyptic tribulation period by its sudden and complete destruction?
We know we are in the last days—the signs are overwhelming and increasing in intensity and frequency on a now daily basis. We are at the doorstep of the rapture of the church, the appearing of the Antichrist, and the start of the seven-year tribulation period.
Expect things to continue to escalate folks! Israel is on a collision course with Iran, Turkey and Russia… and the road to their ultimate redemption—much as it did for Paul—runs through Damascus!
Do not be deceived by the New World Order promises of a great and glorious global reset and the cries of “peace and safety”—they are but a momentary mirage… a great spiritual deception.
The Apostle Paul warns us:
For when they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.” (1 Thessalonians 5:3)
Notice, Paul states that they will not escape… meaning that we, those who have trusted in Christ, will escape the destruction!
Time is up my friends. The ship is sinking. The apocalyptic wrath and judgment of God is coming for this world. Get on the Ark now… while you still can!
The doors to the Ark are about to be suddenly slammed shut by God… just as in the days of Noah.
Don’t miss your opportunity to escape… you do NOT want to be left behind!
Being physically prepared is important. Things are about to get worse, much worse… and we need to be equipped to continue serving Christ as His ambassadors until he calls us home in the Rapture.

Salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone is the only answer—there is no other means by which you and I can be saved.
Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 2:4-9)
