Civil Unrest, Uprising, or Revolution: Harbinger of Our Dystopian Destiny?

Recent developments have signaled the arrival of the next stage of our social and economic collapse. We had a proverbial forest full of dry tinder and the inevitable spark arrived—ushering in wide-scale civil unrest in the form of looting, vandalism, arson, and violence. Is this a harbinger of our dystopian destiny? Will the unrest escalate into an uprising, only to further evolve into a political revolution?

It really didn’t matter what the spark was that ignited the blaze. Like a random bolt of lightning touching off a wildfire, it was unavoidable.

We warned our followers that there was a high risk of civil unrest spreading to our country way back at the end of March (see our article An Italian Foreshadowing: Social Unrest Coming to the US?).

Unfortunately, many unprepared citizens ignored the warnings or grossly underestimated the potential severity of the civil unrest risk.

What we must understand now is that the violent component of the civil unrest is not simply confined to racial inequality—it is much larger than that. It is an uprising—one predicated on socio-economic inequality. And that uprising has the potential to evolve into a full-blown political revolution—one that could usher in the coming dystopia.

Dystopian Destiny: The Radical Left

The seeds of today’s social unrest were sown in the 60s and 70s, with the birth of the extreme left. However, the country at large simply wasn’t ready to embrace this radical movement. Instead, the youthful leaders at the time slowly merged into society (e.g., business, government, academia, etc.)—but they never abandoned their dream of collapsing our system and instituting their utopian socialist ideal.

They realized that, while they had lost the battle, they could win the war—if they played the long game. And they did just that.

They used their time and eventual wealth, power, and influence to (1) develop a strategic and highly effective game plan and (2) fund its development and implementation.

They just kept slowly moving us closer to the goal, locking in each small, carefully calculated gain like the locking mechanism of a ratchet when tightening a bolt. They were preparing. They were lying in wait for the moment to go all in. Waiting for the most opportune moment to ambush the sheeple and collapse the system.

The pandemic was the moment they had patiently waited nearly five decades for. The virus primed the environment and the spark to ignite it was inevitable—it would have come from somewhere.

Now these radical elements are going to throw everything—including the kitchen sink—at the opportunity, determined to finally achieve success this time. This is their time. Their moment to shine. Their long-sought defining moment.

They have shaped, honed, and funded the next generation of Marxist soldiers under a virtual cornucopia of extremist groups—the largest and most well-known being Antifa.

Now they are sending their soldiers out to do their bidding—the puppet masters are pulling the strings of their marionettes.

Dystopian Destiny: The Radical Right

At the same time, you have radical rightwing groups (e.g., anarchists, white supremacists, and separatists) looking to push back against the growing threat posed by an overbearing government.

These groups are seeking the same thing—chaos and collapse. Though, they have a different solution or desired outcome from that of the far left.

Legacy Food Storage

The far left wants greater “equality” through increased government (state) authoritarianism. The far right wants greater “independence” through less (or no) government. However, they both need a moment of utter chaos and civil unrest to help them accomplish their goals.

Burning at Both Ends of Our Candle

This radical combination makes our current position even that much more precarious. Both sides will be inserting themselves into the mix every opportunity they get—inciting, leading, and equipping the growing ranks of disenfranchised Americans.

We’ve seen the videos of clear agent provocateurs. It doesn’t matter who they are, who they work for, or what side they’re on. The reality is they are actively being used by all extremist groups—they always have been.

In essence, they are all simply borrowing from the “special forces” play book.

We are a nation burning at both ends of our collective candle.

But It Gets Worse…

These players have existed for some time in our country… so what changed?

The answer is our socio-economic milieu.

We have consistently warned about the erosion of the middle class and the ongoing redistribution of wealth from the hard-working taxpayers trying to live the American dream to the wealthiest among us—the greatest redistribution history (far greater than the left’s redistribution to the poor).

This redistribution—powered by the Fed (the Robin Hood of the rich) and backed by the elites of both parties (who have benefited from it both in power and wealth)—has led to a massive expansion of the wealth gap. Below are some graphics depicting the erosion of the middle class and the exponentially expanding wealth gap.

The massive and rapidly expanding wealth gap in America

And these charts don’t even reflect the last three years—including the greatest expansion of the gap in history that is unfolding during the pandemic thanks to the Fed!

The ancient Greek biographer Plutarch wisely noted that “An imbalance between rich and poor is the oldest and most fatal ailment of all republics.” If he was correct (and history seems to bear witness to it), then America has a terminal case of this ailment and needs to be referred to hospice for end-of-life support.

A 2014 study published in the Journal of Ecology Economics (peer-reviewed) examined the historical factors contributing to the plentiful cases of collapsed civilizations throughout history. They employed a cutting-edge approach/model that examined the impact of wealth stratification (a fancy term for wealth gap) on societal collapse.

They found that with economic stratification, “collapse is very difficult to avoid and requires major policy changes, including major reductions in inequality and population growth rates.

It is worth reading and reflecting on the authors’ thoughts regarding the impact of wealth inequality:

It is important to note that… the Elites – due to their wealth – do not suffer the detrimental effects of the… collapse until much later than the Commoners. This buffer of wealth allows Elites to continue “business as usual” despite the impending catastrophe. It is likely that this is an important mechanism that would help explain how historical collapses were allowed to occur by elites who appear to be oblivious to the catastrophic trajectory (most clearly apparent in the Roman and Mayan cases).

The authors continue:

This buffer effect is further reinforced by the long, apparently sustainable trajectory prior to the beginning of the collapse. While some members of society might raise the alarm that the system is moving towards an impending collapse and therefore advocate structural changes to society in order to avoid it, Elites and their supporters, who opposed making these changes, could point to the long sustainable trajectory “so far” in support of doing nothing.

Sound familiar?

Our consumer-driven, debt-fueled, live beyond your means economic system is unsustainable. It is the grandest of Ponzi schemes… and it is collapsing before our eyes.

This is just a glimpse of our government’s current financial condition:

National Debt: US Is a Zombie Country On the Verge of Economic Collapse

We were spending twice our tax revenue… before the pandemic’s impact. We are now spending way more, with far less tax revenue (thanks to 50+ million unemployed Americans and closed businesses).

If you were looking to purchase a home, how much do you think a bank would lend you? Typically, it would be around 2 to 2.5 times your annual income. In other words, if you make $100k, you would be looking for a home in the $200-250k range.

Our government is borrowing at eight times their income (pre-Covid income)—not even including the $100+ trillion in unfunded liabilities we have! And, thanks to our ballooning annual deficit, that multiple is climbing like Elon Musk’s Falcon 9 rocket!

And remember, we can only pay the interest on those loans (at an average of 1.5%). Meaning we depend on our creditors to (1) roll-over the existing loans (principal) and (2) lend us even more to cover our ongoing annual deficits. (And hope and pray the rates don’t climb or we’re really screwed!)

In essence, we are a zombie country!

Economic House of Cards & Massive Ponzi Scheme: United States is a zombie country?

And who owns a lot of that debt? That’s right, retail investors, your 401Ks, and your pension funds! When the house of cards goes, the middle class will be hammered again.

More and more of the “middle class” is awakening to the reality that we are trapped in a real-life game of Monopoly and the 1% controls the entire board. All the Fed is doing in an effort to “save” us is to help the rich build hotels on all those properties.

There is no longer a level playing field. No opportunity to work hard and succeed. There is no way to compete with a stacked deck and a board full of hotels. No wonder so many of our poor just try to land on “go to jail” so they can escape for three turns. And the ultimate collapse is all but inevitable.

The vast majority of Americans are screwed. The game is over, and they are beginning to realize it.

Up until recently, most middle-class folks had a job and some measure of stability. They had a purpose and sliver of hope—however small—to cling to. In their heart of hearts, they new the truth. However, the daily grind and materialistic rat race (predicated on a cycle of ever deepening debt) kept them plugged-in and distracted.

That has now changed. An estimated 50+ million Americans are unemployed and countless small business owners have had to close (and potentially lose) their life’s work, including a large portion of the middle class.

The ranks of the poor, disenfranchised, jaded, and angry have swelled. Our future—and the future of kids and grandkids—has been stolen and given to the rich. They simply use it to continue their quest to gobble-up more and more of our raw materials and means of productions—ensuring both their control over us and their insulation from the massive wave of inflation guaranteed to eventually crash over us like a massive tsunami.

That is what has changed.

This civil unrest may have been ignited over racial tensions and abuse of power by police… but it is (and will continue) to grow into so much more. It is now a socio-economic revolution—the flames of which will continue to be fanned by opportunistic elements on the far left, far right, government, and media. All the while, the ranks of the revolution will continue to swell—fueled by new bodies from the collapsing middle class… folks who would never have joined in the madness before.

More and more middle-class folks are going to give-up and throw in the towel. They are going to say enough is enough and that they are done playing a rigged game they can’t win. Instead, they are going to decide the time has finally come to help usher in real systematic change.

Hope and change. Sound familiar? It’s what the left has disingenuously been promising the downtrodden for decades—made famous by one Barack Obama.

Of course, they never have (nor ever will) deliver on that promise (just look at inner cities run for decades by Democrats). No, It will just provide the elites with more political power and wealth. But never mind that. Move along… nothing to see here!

They don’t have to deliver… they just have to sell the lie to enough people. If they do, those people will deliver what they’ve been striving for their whole lives. And when they do, the people won’t matter anymore.

Dystopia: Is It Our New Manifest Destiny?

Is this emerging revolution unstoppable at this point? Is a dystopian future our manifest destiny… or is it an avoidable outcome? Only time will tell.

This civil unrest could fizzle out over the coming weeks… or it could continue to build in strength and violence.

It may force the hand of government to institute forms of martial law in varying degrees—and even deploy federal (military) troops.

Should that happen, it will only stoke the flames on the right.

Either way, we are in for a bumpy ride. I believe we are entering one of those historic periods characterized afterwards as a “great awakening.”

Unfortunately, these periods in history are almost always times of creative destruction. While they prepare society for new growth and development in the long run (creative), their destructive nature is painful to live through in the short run.

Perhaps we as a people are smarter than most believe. Perhaps we can come together to achieve positive and beneficial reform in a peaceful way. Maybe we can turn the massive battleship of a country around and chart a better course forward to a brighter future???

Afterall, we are Americans. We have always come together, risen to the challenge, and overcome adversity. I’m hesitant to bet against us…

However, I can’t think of one example from history where a civilization was able to successfully reverse a collapse once it began. That’s just not how these things go. We would have to be the first… but we are the great land and people of firsts?

If not, then our future is not so bright. Rather, it can be likened to that of a star that once burned bright but is now running out of fuel, diminishing in intensity, and collapsing in on itself.

We are a superpower in decline with an economy in collapse, facing an adversary in China that is a rising superpower with a rapidly increasing ability to project power (both economically and militarily) and an intense and unbendable drive and thirst for regional, and then global, domination.

The handwriting is on the wall. The only question is how long it takes and what things look like when it’s over.

Make no mistake, I’m not saying this must be the end or a start of the apocalypse. This could all cool down for a while. What I am saying is that I believe the process originally set in motion many decades ago has finally reached critical mass and it won’t stop until it has run its course, and we reach our destination as a nation.

We the people were betrayed by actors on both sides—but we allowed that betrayal to occur.

We will come out the other side… but it may look very different from today and we will all likely be significantly impacted and forever changed by the creative destruction to come over the next 5 to 10 years.

Civil Unrest: What Can (Should) We Do About It?

The fact is that there is very little we can do about the overall direction of the country. We are going to go where go—based on the aggregate actions and powers of all the stakeholders in our republic.

However, on an individual level, there are critical steps we can take—while we still can:

  • Arm Yourself for Defense
  • Expand Your Network
  • Continue Building Your Preps
  • Be a Gray Man

Arm Yourself

First and foremost, ensure that you are capable of defending yourself and your family. The time is coming when you will not be able to buy guns or ammo. Don’t miss your window.

The civil unrest is beginning to spread out of the inner cities. There is only so much you can burn and loot there. Once those resources are drained (or government resistance becomes to strong), the violence will move into the suburbs—it will seek places where there are (1) items and valuables worth looting and (2) targets that are viewed as “rich” and/or “hostile” to the movement/revolution.

Legacy Food Storage

We have already seen cases where individuals have been targeted at their homes by groups. When they called the police for help (literally in fear for their lives and the lives of the children), they were told that officers were currently busy (dealing with the mobs) but would respond when they could.

Understand, the police are going to be focused on protecting the government (i.e., buildings and personnel) and critical infrastructure—you are a tertiary concern for them when things go bad. There are simply not enough cops to go around. You are on your own—be prepared to defend yourself.

Expand Your Network

Second, make sure you are building a network of support. There is strength in numbers. You can’t master every skill or store up every item that may be needed. By networking, you increase the strength of your tribe. Furthermore, if civil unrest comes to your neighborhood, you will stand a much better chance of a good outcome if you defend your ground together with your neighbors—just be careful how much information you reveal (always maintain situation awareness and information security).

Continue to Build Your Preps

Third, continue to build your preps while you can. Much like the virus, this civil unrest is going to come in waves, and it is likely going to be with us for a long time to come. Whether it gets worse remains to be seen but you can’t wait for that to make your decision.

Prepping is about being proactive. If you wait, you will lose.

At the very least, you need 3-6 months of food, personal hygiene & sanitation supplies, and medical supplies.

Just today, we were notified by Walmart that our food delivery scheduled for today had been cancelled because they are going to be closing all their stores early due to the riots—and completely closing many. Obviously, they have to consider the safety of their employees; however, this is an example of what can happen to your food supply chain!

What happens if we see major closures by grocery chains in areas impacted by violence? The impact may only be for short-durations; however, if your household food supply is on a paycheck-to-paycheck basis, you may find yourself in a really bad spot!

Don’t put yourself in that stressful situation—build your food pantry now!

Become a Gray Man

Fourth, and we cannot stress this enough, become a gray man.

We are currently witnessing a cornucopia of extremist groups (on both ends of the spectrum) and criminals seeking to exploit and incite the violence for their own objectives.

There are NO clear lines. NO ONE is safe—not the media, not progressives, not conservatives, and not any race, nationality, or creed.

Avoid protests, demonstrations, and large groups. Limit your travel. Always know where you are and have multiple egress routes planned in advance. Always maintain situational awareness. Blend in. Do NOT be vocal or do anything to attract attention to yourself. Avoid venturing out at night.

Violence does not discriminate—plain and simple. It doesn’t know or care about you. It is emotional, irrational, and illogical. No one is immune and mobs can and will turn on you in the blink of an eye. It is very easy to accidentally and unknowingly get caught in a crossfire or become collateral damage.

Finally, understand that societal norms have disappeared. Typical restraint has been abandoned. What you may have gotten away with in the past may very well get you killed today. Avoid confrontation at all cost. Don’t stand your ground (unless at home or defending a life) but withdraw from the situation. Live to fight another day.

Should the civil unrest continue, we will begin to see alliances form and more clearly defined coalitions built. Until then, there are no rules, no boundaries, and no safe zones. Assume every unknown person is a potential threat. There are too many moving parts—many hidden or cloaked—to try and analyze or understand the battlefield right now.

This is the time to lay low, prep like hell, and let the dust settle and the fog of war (or civil chaos in this case) clear—be a gray man.

Final Thoughts

In closing, I would add that we must also strive to love our neighbors and treat them as we would like to be treated. If we are going to turn this thing around, it will only happen when we the people come together as one and stop letting others play and betray us.

We have the power, but only if we are able to recognize it collectively and have the courage to grab hold of it and each other.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and in all things pray.

“The causes which destroyed the ancient republics were numerous; but in Rome, one principal cause was the vast inequality of fortunes.”

“How does one put together a democracy based on the concept of equality while running an economy with ever greater degrees of economic inequality?”
